YUREMA PEREZ-HINOJOSA

Yurema Perez-Hinojosa, born and based in New York, is a director, writer, editor, and producer with a wide breadth of experience across shorts, features, and social content. As the proud daughter of Mexican and Dominican immigrants, her work explores migration and reimagines selfhood in expansive, authentic, and unconventional forms. She specializes in blending intimate narratives with bold, experimental production approaches.
A Brown University graduate, Yurema directed several shorts, led programming and curation for the world’s largest student-run international film festival, and contributed to In the Heights (2021). She’s since worked as a field videographer for Latino USA, an Associate Producer at Aubin Pictures, and a creative force behind high-impact reels and social content for journalists and authors.
Across all her roles, her mission remains the same: to amplify underrepresented voices and expand how we tell stories.
