Sybil Patten

Writer, Producer, Archivist

Sybil Patten is a documentary filmmaker, freelance video producer and educator. In 2022 she started Filmworthy, an affordable documentary workshop for high school students in NYC public schools. Patten is a graduate of UC Berkeley’s School of Journalism. Patten’s work examines social structures from the intimacy of tangled familial relationships to the politically fraught, and underfunded social support systems in this country.

Currently, she is producing a documentary about the oldest alternative high school in Maine and the lives (both teachers and students) that were forever changed by this community. In Patten’s free time, she enjoys long walks wandering through the boroughs, sharing meals with friends, and plotting adventures with her partner in crime.
