Roberto Drilea is a Romanian-American filmmaker working at the intersection of technology and storytelling to create experiences that reflect and refract human complexity. His student feature DEAD TONGUES was a 2016 HP Lovecraft Film Festival "Best Feature" winner.
After his selection as a 2016 Oculus "VR For Good" Creator, his VR musical, USE YOUR IMAGINATION, created in collaboration with young artists on the autism spectrum, premiered at SXSW 2017. In 2019 he directed a segment of Lucrecia Martel's upcoming omnibus film FENOMENOS DE MARTE(L), produced by La Selva Ecosistema Creatiu in Spain.
His latest effort is a documentary portrait of an indigenous leader in the Peruvian Amazon, produced in the Apichatpong Weerasethakul 2022 Lab in collaboration with Playlab Films. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Roberto works as a video editor and is currently in development with his writer-director debut feature ALBATROSS.
