Project Status: In Preproduction
Logline
Attention MOVE: This is America is an XR documentary-based experience that plunges you into the tense, emotional prelude before the government-sanctioned bombing of a Philadelphia neighborhood on Mother's Day 1985. Experience the lives of revolutionaries as you witness two distinctive Black American families contend with the loss of home, community, and country all at once.
Synopsis
A three-part experience with the essence being a visceral VR journey that plunges you into the tumultuous Philadelphia Mother's Day 1985. Navigate between two row houses – one occupied by the MOVE Revolutionaries and the other by a working/middle-class Black family while being surrounded by 500 police officers (including SWAT and snipers), water cannons, and city officials gearing up for a confrontation right outside the houses’ doorsteps. Feel the chaos rise as both families strive to defend their beliefs and preserve their dignity against the relentless intrusion of law enforcement preparing for a siege.
You are then transported to the aftermath of the devastating bomb dropped by the US Government on the MOVE home. You find yourself standing amidst the ruins of the city block. Explore the wreckage strewn with family mementos—a wedding ring, a Civil War bible—each imbued with poignant narratives shared by their owners.
At the end of the street, you step into the curated art gallery where the space uses AR technology to breathe life into Philadelphia's history with MOVE. Dive into a narrative woven from public documents, news articles, and video footage, curated to unveil the profound connection between the city and the MOVE revolutionaries. Encounter an AI-enabled Virtual Being embodying MOVE member MIKE AFRICA JR. Engage, ask questions, and unearth the essence of MOVE's ideology.
By experiencing Attention MOVE: This is AMERICA you become a vital part of a collective effort of remembrance, resilience, and healing.
