DAVID ULLMAN
Producer, Director, Editor
David Ullman is a multidisciplinary artist, specializing in film and music, with roots in rural Ohio. His passion for filmmaking began as a means of self-expression in a working-class town where the arts were rarely considered a viable path. David’s early experiences—learning guitar from his father and creating films on home video with a hand-me-down camcorder—shaped his dedication to documenting the creative struggles of unsung artists that he continues to this day with his doc-in-progress, THE FURIOUS LIGHT.
For over two decades, Ullman has captured stories of artistic perseverance through feature-length documentaries like Inertia: Remaking THE CROW (which premiered at the 2002 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival and was recently re-released on LunchmeatVHS home video) and Finding Rhythm (2004). His personal work explores the tension between artistic ambition and the demands of everyday life, especially in rural, midwestern America.
