Matthew Rivera is a multimedia reporter based in New York City.

He began his career working as a backpack video-journalist after graduating from New York University. He later co-founded Moose Productions and created content for television, online video portals, corporate clients, and original documentaries.

He currently works at the Wall Street Journal Digital Network, and teaches Multimedia Reporting at New York University’s Carter Journalism Institute for the graduate program.

Matthew Rivera has directed, produced, written shot and edited hundreds of pieces of content for the Wall Street Journal Digital Network, and all of the original content for WSJ’s Greater New York section, including breaking news and the webisode series: Walkabout NY, Feuds, Made in New York.

He produces a comedic cooking show, “Brother Mark’s Barbecue, ” has delivered content for CurrentTV and worked as a videographer and field producer for A&E’s true-crime series, “The First 48.”

Matthew has worked on many documentaries and short projects, notably “The White House Hotel” which he co-directed with Graham Meriwether, and “Real Gone!”

He also teaches classes, and has lead instructional seminars at the BBC, the Bauhaus University, Weimar, and the United Nations. He is an adjunct professor at New York University’s Carter Journalism Institute and teaches a multimedia reporting class called “Guerilla News.”
