Marisa has been educating the health-conscious and veg-curious about plant foods since she became completely plant-powered in 2002. She has organized roughly 70 grassroots workshops and screenings of award-winning vegetarian-related documentaries at colleges, law schools, churches, and conferences all over North America. She has spoken on panels at the NYC Food & Climate Summit and at Climate Week NYC, which was organized in conjunction with the United Nations’ 2009 Climate Change Summit. Her letters and articles have been published in USA Today Magazine, New York Times, and Chicago Tribune. She’s vice president of the Sustainable Leadership Council of New York City, a consortium of local vegan leaders. She recently completed Vegucated, a guerilla-style documentary that tells the story of three meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers who, for six weeks, adopt a vegan diet and a whole new way of thinking about food. When she isn’t busy submitting the film to festivals for a !
2011 premiere, she enjoys vegucating the 1200+ members of her free, online coaching program, Vegan at Heart.
