When a Western woman takes a camera to the streets of Kabul, Afghanistan, she finds herself in a unique passenger seat, separated from the world around her by a sheet of bulletproof glass.
I met Tim on 23rd street near sixth avenue. He was sitting on the sidewalk with his back against a shuttered storefront. Before him perched a small hand-lettered cardboard sign that read:
Please Help
My dad passed away on Thursday
I am trying to get home for the
funeral and to be with my family
I only need $49 $39 more for a bus
Im not perfect but I wouldn’t lie about this
I told him I’d give him the money if I could use him for my art project. I told him I’d buy him a suit for his father’s funeral as well.
For six weeks, three New Yorkers adopt a vegan diet and a whole new way of thinking about food.
This is a preliminary promo piece for a film that’s being produced by Kind Green Planet, a nonprofit environmental and animal protection organization. VEGUCATED is a guerilla-style documentary that tells the true story of three people who agree to do one thing: change what they eat. For six weeks, these meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers adopt a vegan diet and a whole new way of thinking about food. The physical impacts of the lifestyle are noticeable, but it’s the emotional changes that are truly profound. Watch this preliminary promo piece for a hint of what’s to come. (Note: the film used to be entitled “GLASS WALLS.”)
